The Internship Program of the QSWC

The Quebec Society of Wetland Conservation (QSWC) offers an internship program intended mainly for students, researchers and professionals interested in the management of protected natural areas, safeguarding of wetlands and the conservation of species at risk. This is on a voluntary basis.

Objective and activities

The main objective of the QSWC internship program aims at assisting the organization in the management of its network of 11 nature reserves in the Province of Quebec.  Principal activities during the internship at the QSWC are the followings :

  • Conducting ecological inventories of flora and fauna at risk and protected by the QSWC ; 

  • Planning and conducting of management activities on the natural habitats in the QSWC reserves ; 

  • Participating in the management and administration of the QSWC.

Timeline

The internship work period at QSWC is 35 hrs per week and runs 12 weeks.

Expenses

The cost to participants are 300 $ a week. This includes housing at the QSWC residences. Meals and other personal expenses are not included. Traveling costs (gasoline, etc.) to the QSWC nature reserves are to be shared between participants.
